Hello SMALL Farm Enthusiasts!
Got A-2 milk? YES!! We have it now. Several months ago we had a customer from Jacksonville insist we sell to her some A-2 milk so we quietly put it on the website and said nothing. Now, 3 months later, half our milk is sold as A-2. This speaks loud and clear to us that you want this, not everyone, but enough to make it worthwhile for us.
We started on the journey to A-2 breeding 10 years ago and are slowly getting to our destination by breeding cows from within our own herd and we have other sources as well. Our goal is now to have only A-2 milk produced on this farm here by end of next year if not before. Jersey cows, as a breed, are only 35% A-2 on average so 10 years ago we started breeding our Jerseys to a Double A-2 Milking Devon bull we got up north. Presently we have one of Jimmy's (https://www.facebook.com/Regengraze/) bulls that we are using for breeding and of course he is A-2 and all future bulls will be selected out of our herd here. Jimmy has already instructed us which cows to keep bulls from for future breeding. So we are on track to have 100% double A2 milk and will continue down this trail as it seems people want it. This is not about what we want or believe in but what our customers want. It does make sense to select for older, heritage breeds anyway because these have never been fed grain. Whereas, the modern Holstein and Jersey have been selected for grain feeding and hyped up for milk quantity instead of quality which is completely different from what we do here. Holsteins and Jerseys are used on farms where more milk production is key but we produce milk as nutrient dense food and do not seek higher production from our cows. 100% grass fed A-2 milk is our niche, not cheap, watered down, no cream on top, type milk. It is true what the farmer near the end of Food Inc said, "the farmer will adapt to producing what people want". My friend says, "Americans love pabulum", I am grateful that we know many who want the very best. And I want to say thank you to all of you as you make it worthwhile at the end of a long day.

New Products
Pork is in good supply as we are doing very little restaurant business now. Try our chorizo sausage which has been out of stock for a few months but is now available!

Sweet Potatoes from Sammy, a local farmer, are back again this year, not organic but, almost as Sammy says, "if he produces it he is going to have it on his table and he will not eat chemicals". He rotates the sweet potato patch around to different places on his farm every year thus leaving behind any build up of pests to reduce or eliminate the need for the natural pesticides he has used in the past.

Candles! Our local friends George and Lucie come from France and sell the most incredible French candles from a family owned company that started over 100 years ago. We find these candles exceptional in every way, try them. http://www.giftonaline.com/store/c2/Candles.html

An Upcoming Event
October 29th we will host a Come See the Peas Day and talk all things winter grazing here at FCF. Price will be 35 dollars per person and include lunch. We will start at 10 AM and go to noon. We plant the peas from June to August and then start grazing them late September or early October, as soon as the summer grass starts to diminish a bit. At the October 29th event we will cover all the details on how, when and why peas are a fantastic fall forage crop. We will also discuss rye for winter as well as timing in planting these two crops and how to graze them effectively.

Thanks for supporting a small, family farm and contributing to a more sustainable future,
Dennis and Alicia

Rabbit, Chestnuts, Micro-Greens And A Trial 9/20/19

Hello Small Farm Enthusiasts, We may be going to trial. We are alleged criminals for selling food without a proper license. They sent an undercover investigator to our farm to buy our food and caught us red handed. We are charged with a second degree misdemeanor just like a druggy. Yes it is a very sick world we live in when the farmer and his wife who neither have ANY previous record are accused of a crime and the crime is something that people have been doing since the beginning of time.

Kefir, a Glass a Day Will Keep the Doctor Away and Persimmons A-plenty 9/6/19

Hello Small Farm Enthusiasts, Kefir made from raw, 100% grass fed milk is an amazing super food loaded with friendly bacteria for your gut. A healthy person will have 2 to 6 lbs of healthy bacteria in their gut. Another way to say this is that a healthy person will have 80% good bacteria and 20% bad in the gut but most Americans have this ratio reversed. This imbalance affects the immune function as these friendly bacteria are a huge part of your immune system.
