Our pork bones come from our pigs who were moved to a new area every week in our "Piggy Woods" where they root up the ground for tubers, eat grass and weeds, acorns, wild blackberries, and anything else they desire. They were supplemented with a ration of 50% Non-GMO Barley and Grass-fed skim milk and 50% Non-GMO swine feed for most of their lives but the past few months they have been completely corn and soy free, only getting barley and skim milk.
How to make Broth:
Thaw bones enough to remove from bag. Place in a cooking pot and cover with water. Bring to a simmer. Check every 30 minutes for first 3 hours and skim off any gunk that floats to the surface with a ladle or spoon. Then continue simmering for 12-36 hours, checking every few hours just to add water if bones become exposed. You are drawing out the minerals (like Calcium) and gelatin from the bones and connective tissue. It takes some time. And the broth is super good for your gut.
