Satsuma Sale, Chai Tea, Lemonade 12/16/16

Hello SMALL Farm Enthusiasts!
Our dear friend and neighbor, Ms. Lemonade, had a bumper crop of Meyer lemons,
a cross between Eureka or Lisbon lemons and a mandarin orange, that are
less acidic and naturally sweeter than other lemons. These are by far,
the best lemons we’ve ever had. Her property has had no chemicals on it
since she bought in 2010. She really “babies” her soil, dousing a huge
array of minerals, and her production reflects that.
Buy in bulk to juice and freeze. You can also juice and freeze in ice
cube trays and when frozen, store in a freezer bag, to use for any
recipe calling for lemon juice, e.g., Caesar salad. Or indulge for the
holidays and make lemon curd.
Her lemonade recipe:
6 large squeezed lemons (more for smaller lemons)
1 cup organic Grade B (more minerals) maple syrup
6-10 drops sweet leaf stevia
Add water to make one gallon
Take advantage of this special, first time crop for sale, at $1.90/pound.
Movie Night: Learn farming by joining us on movie night

have a discussion about what we watched. Join us whether you are a
farmer or consumer. Our 3rd viewing is this Tuesday eve at 7PM right
here at FCF, $3 per evening, cover charge.
Still looking for the perfect Christmas gift, these candles are awesome. http://www.giftonaline.com/store/c2/Candles.html
New Products
Sugar Cane Seed for sale now at FCF for $3 per stalk, Only 20 stalks this year. Also frozen cane juice for sale.
We have a very limited supply this year but we are planting more. So,
will have it next year again and also fresh not frozen next year. Jesse
Green who sold us the cane seed a year ago invited us over to his place
to juice our small amount as we did not feel like we had enough to
justify spending $1000 for a juicer but next year we will. Meanwhile if
anyone knows of a used cane juicer send the add or info our way please.
Sweet Potatoes
are still here although the digging of them is over, so what we have is
all we will get. Tis the season, stock up now as the shelf life is
good. Budnip? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98S24g7ZZmw
Satsuma’s are on SALE from Little River Organics. The
crop was so good this year, the prices have to be reduced! These
mandarins are mostly seedless and EZ peel so kids love em, they contain a
long list of antioxidants beyond Vitamin C and the mild-tasting peel is
edible adding greatly to their nutrient value. We have full bushel boxes at $15 off, half at $7 off and quarter bushel mesh-bags at $5 off and half bushel gift boxes ready to be labeled and shipped UPS, by you, before Christmas.
Living Breads Update:
JIVA Organic Rooibos Masala Chai - 1 Quart concentrate (makes 8 cups of tea)
As we head into the winter season, our body is naturally drawn towards
warming foods. The traditional Ayurvedic system of natural medicine from
India, which is designed to bring the body back into balance so it can
heal itself, recommends having beverages made from warming spices during
this season. The spices in my Rooibois Masala Chai help nurture this
balance in your mind-body-spirit.
This concentrated tea is made with a blend of all Organic Whole spices
that I freshly hand grind in a large granite mortar & pestle and
then boil with Organic Rooibos tea. The Ayurvedic spices are Cloves,
Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Fennel Seeds, Star Anise, Cardamom,
Dried Ginger, Vanilla. Rooibos is naturally decaffeinated, delicate tea
and once brewed it produces a hearty red color with a heavenly warm
scent, especially adding to the festive aromas of the holidays. I call
this tea Jiva Rooibos Masala chai…Jiva in Sanskrit means imbued with life force.
This tea is traditionally savored with milk and is extra delicious with
cream, however, it can be enjoyed with any other liquid of choice as an
alternative to dairy. This fresh tea concentrate can be stored in the
refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Thanks for supporting a small, family farm and contributing to a more sustainable future,
Dennis and Alicia
