Turkeys and the Death of Our Springs 11/17/17

Our springs are dying!! I spent some time with our diving friend, George and he tells me he has been in our area for 10 years, taking divers from all over the world into the underwater caverns that are so prevalent in this area and in that time saw half the springs die. I asked him how long until all of them will be dead and he said at the present rate, 10 more years. He blames chemical farming in a 5 mile radius of the spring. Chemicals cause algae bloom to the point where oxygen is limited, killing off the life in the spring and reducing visibility to where diving is impossible, without ropes which defeats the purpose of diving itself.

What's Up With Our Cheese? and A Graduate. 11/4/17

I had a call today from a lady asking about our cheeses. Our cheeses are truly raw, not the heated to 140 degrees raw that is allowed in stores. Our cheese is also 100% grass fed, zero grain, so all the Omega 3 and 6 fats are balanced and the CLA’s are intact. Cancer inhibiting cheese that is real food not a food like item! This is cheese that you cannot buy in stores of any kind, anywhere. All the good stuff and none of the bad, no chemicals or anti life substances used on our farms for 20 to 30 years now

Sweet Potatoes and a Thank You 10/20/17

THANK YOU! We cannot say it enough. We are so grateful for all of you who supported us over the years through all the changes you have been through with us. We started with one cow 15 years ago and now have 50, or so, on the farm with babies and all. Now we continue with slow, steady growth because you keep telling your friends what healing foods are doing for you. The tribe grows as the word gets out. Presently, we have good help and feel we have room to grow, so talk us up all you want. Milk supply is back, and we are ready for growth.

Alzheimer's = Diabetes of the Brain 10/6/17

Alzheimer’s is just diabetes of the brain?! Wow, I just read an article by Nasha Winters that goes along with Dr. Mercola’s Fat for Fuel I read a while ago. Winter's book, The Metabolic Approach to Cancer is on my list of "Must Reads", now. She says 100 years ago we ate 5 lbs of sugar per year now the average is 175 lbs. NOT COOL! Mercola lately said that we have (1) teaspoon of sugar in our blood. This is healthy. But what happens when we eat a large apple or God forbid a soda that contains 10 or 20 teaspoons of sugar in it?

Learn to Ask Questions and an Apology 9/22/17

I want to offer a sincere apology for what I said about the professor from UF in our farm report on 8/25, that came out to scoop poop for research. I had no right to say what I did and it was most unkind. Someone called me on it and I appreciate that. We never know someone's personal journey and I had no right to throw him under the bus like I did. I also do not want to expose my readers to toxic anything, including words. It was just wrong and I am so sorry. I hope my readers can find it in their hearts to forgive me. Beef available. We have a new beef partner who is doing it right and healing the land. Say NO! to GMOs! 8/25/17

The Possibility of Cheaper Milk 7/28/17

We have been on the trail to producing A-2 milk for over 10 years now. In the last year, 60% of our milk business was A-2 milk. We are pleased that our well informed customers want this but some of our folks have also expressed concern about us going 100% A-2 and no longer selling non A-2 milk. In one customer's own words, “we are stretching to pay $12 a gallon for milk but are willing to do so because your milk is the best nutrient dense milk we can find, but we don’t think we can stretch anymore to pay $14 a gallon”. So this got me thinking, how many folks are out there, that want grass fed raw milk, but have a hard time with price?

Too Much Government Control! 7/15/17

Hello SMALL Farm Enthusiasts, I saw the below in another farm's letter and chose to run it exactly as it was written: Plentiful rain and the warm sunshine is growing a lot of grass. The volume of feed on the farm is just past its annual peak. The deer hide their fawns in the tall grass so when we are out there moving the cattle we’re surprised at who all has occupancy of the fields. The red winged blackbirds, like many other birds, nest in the grass or on thistle stems. Because of the productivity of the fields in our managed grazing, the abundance of the habitat is there and wildlife thrives. Our farm is a huge filter for the rainfall. The run off coming off our farm, in the rare times that water does run off, is clear. We are not muddying any streams and there is no glyphosate, no chemicals polluting the Chesapeake Bay or its tributaries from our farm. Imagine a landscape like this if we could convince our neighbors to husband their fields responsibly. The clean air. The clean water. The happy animals. The healthy people.

Excess Omega 6 Fats = Serious Danger for You 6/30/17

FCF News Hello SMALL Farm Enthusiasts, I am reading a 10 year old book by Dr Mercola called Take Control of Your Health and I recommend it. Page 85 has a paragraph I will quote here, “The ideal ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fats is 1:1. Today though, our ratio averages 20:1 to 50:1. That spells serious danger for you. This out of balance ratio is one of the most serious health issues plaguing contemporary society: excess omega 6 fats can lead to heart disease, cancer, depression, Alzheimer’s, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, colitis, Reynaud’s and a host of other illness”.

Is Grocery Store Food Really "Cheaper"? 6/16/17

The food we produce here is cheap, compared to the food you will get at any store. Yes, it's true. Lets take milk for example, say you pay half our price in the store but when you walk out carrying that gallon of "milk" what you really have is 1/10th of some of the important nutrients. For instance, CLA’s are almost nonexistent in store milk but ours is 20 times more, plus. But our price is not 20 times higher, just 2 or 3 times. If milk was sold for nutrients we would get rich quick! So what is CLA? It stands for Conjugated Linoleic Acids and these are fats that are anti-cancer, help you stay lean, and several other health benefits. Anyway, 100 years ago in this country when milk was produced more like we do here, 1 in 200 people got cancer, now its 1 in 2, any connection? I think yes.
